Privacy policy

Effective date: July 13, 2026

The short version

SmileCosts is a content website. You can read everything without an account. We collect as little as possible: standard server logs, and — because the site is funded by display ads — the cookie-based data Google uses to serve those ads, which you can control at any time.

What we collect

Advertising & cookies

This site is funded by display advertising served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve, measure, and — depending on your consent and settings — personalize the ads you see. Google's own explanation of what it collects on partner sites is here: How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, we show a consent banner before any advertising cookies are set, and no personalized advertising cookies are used unless you agree. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time using the Privacy settings link in the footer of every page.

If you are in the United States, you can limit ad personalization at Google My Ad Center or opt out industry-wide at aboutads.info. Residents of California and other states with comparable privacy laws can use the Your Privacy Choices link in the footer of every page to opt out of the sharing of their personal information for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising, and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16.

Analytics

We do not currently run any third-party analytics or tracking scripts beyond the advertising described above. If that changes, we will say so here before it does.

What we never do

Your rights

Depending on where you live (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold. Since we hold almost none, the fastest path is to email [email protected] — we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will update this page when our practices change and adjust the effective date above.
